We rely on family involvement to keep our program running smoothly and we strive to foster a sense of community among our families. We have a number of events over the course of the year that are designed to give parents the opportunity to get together. We have our annual Oak Lane Birthday Party in the fall, our Annual Gala in the spring, the Pot Luck Supper & Graduation in June, and several picnics during the summer.
We are lucky to have a culturally diverse enrollment and we invite and encourage our parents to come to the classroom and share their traditions, stories and language.
Parents, grandparents and older siblings are welcome to schedule a visit to read a story to their child's class.
Board Participation - We are a not-for-profit and are required to operate with a Board of Directors that is comprised of current parents, alumnai parents, and community members. We welcome volunteers to serve on our Board or, if time does not allow serving on the Board, to volunteer class parents or as members of a committee.
Fundraising is Oak Lane’s main source of the income needed for special purchases – such as playground equipment or computers. As homeowners, we are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building and we encourage each Oak Lane family to participate in our fundraising efforts. We have an Annual Appeal, Personalized Bricks, clothing sales and gift card sales. Please remember to check with your employer to see if they have a matching donation program.
Our major fundraiser is our Annual Gala which is held in the spring. In the past, we have had an annual goods-and-services auction of items donated by local business, museums and attractions, and by Oak Lane families. It is a fun filled evening with opportunities to bid on vacation homes, an evening with a renowned wine taster, or tickets to great sporting events or local attractions. We are also exploring other fundraising options.
